Need help with Posture Problems?
“posture for combat is so vital” – Conor McGregor
Posture, or how we hold ourselves in three dimensions from the feet up to the head, is essentially a learned behaviour, influenced by our emotions and energy levels, and then affecting our movement behaviours, flexibility, strength, endurance and also contributing to pain and injury. Much of our modern lifestyles have unfortunately become very sedentary and static producing forward head and shoulder postures, rounded thoracic spines, stiff hips and weak trunks. With the passage of time these reduced movements can produce significant stiffnesses and pain from overloading.
Depending on the nature of your posture problem will then determine the optimal management. Your physio will provide a thorough assessment to help treatment planning which may include specific exercises, manual and soft tissue therapies, taping/ bracing, orthotics, as well as activity advice and referral where indicated. Selecting the best exercises for your particular presentation is a critical part of us helping you overcome your postural problem and ideally prevent it from returning.
