Women's Health & Pelvic Floor

Women’s Health & Pelvic Floor

Physiotherapy is considered a first line treatment in the management of multiple women’s health conditions!

Many women who are told to perform pelvic floor exercises or given brochures are still performing these exercises ineffectively. Your pelvic floor trained physiotherapist can perform assessments to ensure that you are performing these exercises as well as you can and retrain you if they are being done incorrectly.

What to expect in your consult?

In order to establish a treatment program, we must be able to assess the condition. Some things you can expect from your consultation might include:
• Bladder diary
• Questionnaire
• Internal vaginal assessment
• Ultrasound
We then tailor an individualised treatment plan based on your personal symptoms.

Conditions we help with:

There are several types and causes of incontinence. It is best to have a suitable assessment and develop a personalised treatment plan to ensure you receive the most appropriate treatment.

Physiotherapy can improve the symptoms, reduce prolapse progression and may reduce the grade of a prolapse.

Pelvic Floor Dysfunction

Aging causes changes to your pelvic floor and bladder that make you more susceptible to incontinence and prolapse, evidence shows that this can be reduced with physiotherapy.

In Pregnancy & After Childbirth

Training your pelvic floor during pregnancy is safe and may reduce your chances of incontinence or prolapse after your baby is born.

Abdominal separation after pregnancy (Rectus Abdominus Diastasis)
